Need some help choosing a gun
Hey there guys, currently ive been browsing around for a new gun online. Thing is, I find it hard to actually come across a website that will not only ship to Canada without no problems (item taken at border, etc) but also my part of Canada which is Newfoundland.
Here in Newfoundland there are no airsoft stores where you can buy good quality guns, we only have wal-mart and Canadian Tire. Currently I own an electric M4 variant from wal-mart, comes with two mags (holding 200 bbs) and two batteries. Thing is, this gun has no power, no accuracy and is very fragile so im in the market for a new gun. Here are a few ive been looking at, I was hoping you guys could direct me towards the best ones. Also, I have a low budget as im only in High School still and would rather a spring/bolt action. No particular reason, its just what a I like. https://www.buyairsoft.ca/rifles/spr...n-s-famas.html https://www.buyairsoft.ca/rifles/spr...per-rifle.html http://www.eastcoastairsoft.com/gen-...ack-p-717.html http://www.eastcoastairsoft.com/echo...ock-p-863.html http://www.eastcoastairsoft.com/ak-n...fle-p-885.html |
there is a decent selection on the classified section if you get yourself age verified.
there is in fact a few suppliers in Nova Scotia as well. get yourself AV'ed and you will get more help. |

also, dont try to import guns---you will most likely lose you money. not worth it.

Of the rifles you listed, I would recommend none of them lol
Obviously get AV'd first But while your just looking there's nothing wrong with giving you advice :D So first off, the FAMAS is a version 1 mechbox, they're not necessarily bad, but they're not fantastic. As far as mods, it's not a very versatile platform... And (sorry I don't know how long you may or may not have been playing), but everyone recommends against getting a sniper rifle for your first gun. Be a rifleman first and work on your fieldcraft and accuracy first. Most of sniping is being sneaky, you can learn how to do that with an AEG easily enough! So as for brands, tokyo marui is really the best thing to start off with. Yes it's more expensive than clones or some of the lower end stuff, but it's well worth it. It's plastic, but it's tough plastic. The internals are nigh invincible when left stock, and thus very cheap to maintain. They keep their value very well, so you can sell it later down the road to put a fairly large deposit on a full metal AEG. And they're guaranteed to be 100% compatible with all upgrades since everything is based on their design :) |
ECHO 1 M249 Para. Full metal, sexy, heavy, sexy, and feels nice. hahaha

The FAMAS is completely impossible to upgrade/fix. It is a spring gun same as the sniper, just not as good. Save your money.

think of it this way, you buy a shitty gun, it will most likely break within a couple of weeks. buy something good, and it might last you (with proper maintenance and care) over 10 years. Take a look at this thread: http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthr...gear+buy+guide |
Actually upgradeability is a REALLY important thing to look at, because even if you can't afford to upgrade it now, you will most definitely want to in the future, and it's also a good trait to have when the gun eventually breaks down!

I have to thank everybody for their help so far. But just to give you guys an idea of what I have now and why I really do need a better gun. Here are just some of the specs:
-Its nowhere near actual size, its extremely small (Supposed to be an M4) -Fragile, weak plastic, already starting to come apart and only bought at the beginning of summer -only shoots like 250fps maybe less and has terrible accuracy, bullets go everywhere when on both semi and full auto -2 batteries take 4 hours to charge and last just a little over an hour -Was bought from wal-mart as an exchange for an old shotgun because the spring went in the mag Right now im looking at some m14's, they look alright to me so far. |
M14's are pretty solid
Anyway, look at what tokyo marui has, they're plastic guns but they're tougher than some of the metal chinese guns for the same price and way better in the long run. |

Urgh..cancer.
Get Av'ed man, and you'll wonder what the hell you were thinking buying those guns :P you'll drool, you'll cry, you'll laugh. M14's with a real wooden body...mmmm. So beautiful. Get AV'ed! |
