just a question.
can you buy 6mm steel bbs?
would these work or dammage the gun in some way.
and out of intrest what is the best fps you could get out of a ksc g19.

I dont know the effects of alluminum bbs and airsoft guns. Im thinking a few minites on google will help you out though. :)

Piper Precision sells 0.88g steel BBs for use in their miniguns. They're very expensive (as opposed to plastic BBs) and may be too heavy for the stock plastic parts like nozzle, tappet, hop-up, etc., to work effectively and reliably. The bras barrel may also take a beating as well.

Without a seriously upgraded gun, your performance may not be adequate to shoot those BBs with effective velocity and range.

The site Tony pointed out sells 0.30g aluminum BB's. I suspect it would have less impact on the gun than the 0.88g steel BB's. But unless you are planning to use your airsoft as a lethal weapon, why use metal BB's? I'm sure your local airsoft field won't let you use them since they aren't that safe for game use...

Just buy a bb gun. You'll get 10 times the performance at 1/3 the price.

I am curious: Why would you need rare, heavy and expensive BBs for an airsoft gun?

Depending on the metal used, they could and would damage your barrel eventually. So it's a waste of money for the purchase cost and the future repair costs.

FPS on gas pistols depends on the gas used, the ambient temperature, and the BB weight.

Safe shooting levels are another discussion.
The more information you provide in your profile, the better replies you will get from players near where you live. If you are not in Canada, your laws and the availability of equipment will vary a lot.

If one looks at the 0.88g BBs, it's actually over most field limits in terms of energy if you can get it to 200fps. It's barely practical at that speed, time on target's like forever even at 30'. One's really better off sticking with saner and more readily available weights.

6mm bearings can be found in most all automatic transmitions. they weigh in at about .94grams

I guess for shits and giggles, but I'd rather not deal with the drawbacks. My guess is that he'd be better off with a decent pellet gun.

My upgraded G19 puts out 0.20g BB at 340fps, and 0.43g BBs at 265fps. So I'd say a 0.88g BB would be around 200fps IF that, quite possibly lower. But in order to get any kind of distance with it over 40-60ft, you'd have to aim high.

In so far as more damage to the target, old wives tales period unless one is talking about somthing frangible such as glass. Yes, it'll hit with more impact, but not much more and only at close range. Not like a steel BB would imbed itself in the skin anymore than a plastic one would.

For those asking, why not get a bb or pellet gun, well there's currently only one bb/pellet gun I know of that is an AEG, and the rest are either pump, break-single shot, lever, or hpa powered.

The reason I originally decided to get an airsoft gun is that I wanted something electric powered and that has full auto, easy to find that in airsoft. The fact that I can also play airsoft when I feel like it, is a plus.

If his gun is upgraded enough to handle these steel/aluminum bbs, then it could be great backyard fun, if his property is large enough, or he can go out of town somewhere to shoot.
