Have played in the winter with a V3 gearbox gun and no problems. I've heard of hop-up damage and mechbox problems for some people's guns. I have had no problem. I love winter games. You can actually dive for cover and white camo is amazing in snow.
Gas powered guns however will definitely be a no-go because the low temperatures will affect gas expansion and they just won't work well.
