They're open like that so that you can have large optics, cocking handles, and other such IPSC specific protrusions that prevent the pistol from fitting in a regular holster.

There is another holster for USP .45, but different from this one. This is military version. The model for USP .45 is a police version.

Yes, I am waiting too. I have a some sample pictures of the holsters iteself already. They just have USP, Glock, 1911 released with belt/thigh platforms. But I asked them to take some pictures of the full kit.

I will post picutres tonight or tomorrow.
